A promising voter registration effort in Texas

We are proud to support a new nonprofit organization focused on youth voter registration in Texas, which has among the lowest youth turnout rates in the nation. Founded in Texas and led by a brilliant organizer, Christian Baum, the mission of the Cornerstone Project is straightforward: train college students to register other college students. College campuses are a place where new voters can be registered efficiently—especially when their peers manage the work. With a five-figure investment focused on seven initial campuses, Cornerstone is on track to register more than 5,000 new voters by the state’s October 7 deadline. When you consider Texas has more than 250 institutions of higher ed, Cornerstone’s potential for impact is clear.
